8000 LB. MODIFIED DIESEL 4X4 TRUCK
Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 7:02PM - Must use stock frame for make and model of vehicle. No tube or aftermarket frames.
- Wheelbase maximum of 158". Rigid suspension, drop boxes and reversers allowed.
- Hanging weights allowed. Weights must not extend more than 60" from centerline of front axle. Weights must be secure.
- Tires and wheels must stay in center of wheel wells as intended by manufacturer.
- All u-joints must be shielded 360 degrees with 3/8" thick aluminum of 5/16 steel. Shield shall be 6" wide and centered on the u-joint. Inside diameter of shield shall be no more than 2" larger than the u-joint.
- All intermediate shafts between the transmission and transfer case shall be totally enclosed with 3/8" aluminum or 5/16" steel. One forth of the shaft may be visible.
- Axle shields are not required.
- Hitch height to be maximum of 22" off ground. Hook point to be a 3" diameter ring or clevis.
- Minimum hitch length from center of rear axle back must be at least 36% of wheelbase.
- If bed is too long it may be cut to accommocate the 36% hitch length rule. Hitch must be clear for hookup.
- Maximum tire height is 35". Must use D.O.T. approved tires. Must have a D.O.T. number moulded on the tire. No cepecks allowed. Cut or sharpened tires allowed. Dual rear tires are not allowed.
- Exhaust must exit straight up, stack length minimum of 12 inches from top of hood. Pipe must have (2) 3/8 grade 5 bolts mounted in a cross pattern in the vertical pipe.
- Engine must come from the factory in a one ton or smaller pickup truck. Maximum engine size shall be 460 cubic inches. Mechanical or electronic injection allowed.
- No nitrous, propane or alcohol allowed - #2 diesel fuel only. Water injection allowed.
- Turbochargers limited to 2 stage configuration.
- All engines will have deflection shields running the complete length of the block casting. Shields must be securely fastened and must be .060" thick.
- SFI bell housing blanket and/or SFI blowproof bell housing required. NO cast iron clutches or flywheels allowed.
- Air shutoff required - At the rear of the truck to be operated by the sled and also a control inside the drivers compartment.
- Fire extinguisher, Snell 85 or better helmet, SFI suit, and seatbelts required.
